          Who is Émile Coué?

Émile Coué was a remarkable French psychologist and pharmacist born in 1857. He made incredible strides in understanding the mind’s influence over the body, introducing ideas that have helped countless people improve their lives. His approach centered on the power of positive thinking and self-affirmation, concepts that are still relevant and effective today.

          Coué’s Philosophy

Coué believed that our thoughts and self-talk profoundly impact our well-being. His famous mantra, “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better,” is a testament to his belief in the power of positive affirmations to transform our mindset and health.

          What is Autosuggestion

Autosuggestion, a key part of Coué’s work, involves consciously influencing the subconscious mind with positive statements. It operates on the principle that our thoughts can shape our reality. By consistently repeating positive affirmations, such as “I am confident and capable,” we can reprogram our subconscious mind to create a more optimistic outlook, reduce anxiety, and improve overall mental and physical health. This technique helps replace negative thoughts with positive ones, reducing anxiety and promoting a healthier mental state.

          Understanding the 30-Second Relaxation Technique

The Émile Coué affirmations is a quick, easy-to-apply method that can help you reduce anxiety and stress no matter where you are. This simple practice can become a valuable part of your mental health toolkit.

          Step-by-Step Guide

          1. Find a Quiet Space: If possible, choose a calm spot to practice this technique.
          2. Sit Comfortably: Ensure you are seated comfortably with your back straight and feet on the ground.
          3. Close Your Eyes: Close your eyes to minimize distractions and focus inward.
          4. Take a Deep Breath: Inhale deeply through your nose, filling your lungs completely.
          5. Exhale Slowly: Slowly exhale through your mouth, letting go of any tension.
          6. Repeat This Positive Affirmation: As you breathe, silently repeat every day in “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.”

You can also use your hands as a visual aid and to really stamp in your affirmation. This is my preferred method and it doesn’t require any extra steps other than putting a finger down every time you repeat the statement. For example, you just:

          1. Hold both hands up
          2. Start with the right hand and right pinky
          3. Repeat the anxiety affirmation and lower your right pinky into the palm of your hand
          4. Repeat with your right ring finger and push into the palm of your hand as you repeat the anxiety mantra
          5. Continue doing this until all fingers on both hands are down and pushed into the palm of your hand

When you’re finished with this relaxation technique, you’ll have repeated the anxiety mantra 10 times – 1 for each finger. It’s crucial to start with your right hand and right pinky and slowly work your way through your fingers – right to left. This is the power of Émile Coué’s work.

          Other Émile Coué’s Affirmations

While the “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better” is the most famous Émile Coué’s affirmation, he also has many others that have worked wonders:

          • “My mind is calm and peaceful.”
          • “I am confident and capable in all that I do.”
          • “My body is healthy and strong.”
          • “I attract success and prosperity with ease.”
          • “I am surrounded by love and positivity.”
          • “I handle every situation with grace and wisdom.”
          • “I am in control of my thoughts and emotions.”
          • “I am grateful for all the good in my life.”
          • “I have the power to create the life I desire.”

          Why It Works

This technique combines deep breathing with positive affirmations to soothe your nervous system and shift your focus from anxious thoughts. By harnessing the power of autosuggestion, it provides a quick way to find calm and clarity.

Benefits of the Émile Coué Affirmations

Incorporating the Émile Coué 30-second relaxation technique into your life can offer numerous mental health benefits.

          Rewire the Brain

Studies have shown that positive affirmations can reduce stress and improve mental health. Consistently repeating positive phrases can help rewire your brain to focus on positive outcomes.

          Immediate Stress Relief

This method provides immediate relief from stress by focusing your mind on positive thoughts and deep, calming breaths. Deep breathing exercises also activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Coué’s technique leverages this natural response to provide quick relief from anxiety.

          Enhance Mental Clarity

Reducing anxiety with this technique can improve your mental clarity, helping you think more clearly and make better decisions.

          Improve Emotional Well-being

Consistently practicing positive affirmations can boost your mood and enhance your overall emotional well-being, fostering a more optimistic outlook on life.

Plus, one of the best things about this technique is its portability. You can practice it anywhere, anytime, making it a practical tool for managing anxiety throughout the day.

Using the Émile Coué Technique in your Daily Life

Integrating the Émile Coué 30-second relaxation technique into your daily routine can significantly enhance your mental health. To use this incredible mantra for anxiety that can rewrite your brain, you only need 30 seconds each night. It’s recommended to do this relaxation technique right before you slip into sleep. This allows the mantra to rewrite your subconscious throughout the night. Overtime, this completely transforms your life while also helping you wake up positively each morning.

          Visualization to Boost the Benefits

To make this relaxation technique even more effective, you want to visualize yourself getting better and better each day. As you repeat the mantra for anxiety, close your eyes and visualize what that means to you. What does getting better look like to you? What does it smell like? Feel like? Get as detailed as you can. As you visualize yourself getting better and better while repeating this anxiety mantra, your brain begins to rewrite your subconscious mind. You start getting better and better, each and every day.

          Combining with Other Relaxation Techniques

While the Émile Coué 30-second relaxation technique is effective on its own, combining it with other methods can amplify its benefits.

          Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on the present moment and observing your thoughts without judgment. Pairing it with Coué’s technique can deepen your sense of calm and relaxation.

          Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Progressive muscle relaxation involves tensing and then relaxing different muscle groups. Combining this with positive affirmations can enhance both physical and mental relaxation.

Final Thoughts on Émile Coué’s Relaxation Technique

Affirmations for anxiety work in an incredible way where they rewrite your subconscious so that you begin to believe (and live by) the affirmative statement. Émile Coué’s relaxation technique and methods for psychotherapy and self-improvement have been used for thousands of years because of how effective they are. Commit to repeating this mantra for anxiety for 2 weeks each night and I guarantee, you will start to get better and better.
